Bitdefender vs. webroot reviews1/2/2024 ![]() There have been a lot fewer issues with Webroot DNS once we corrected all the one-off DNS configurations throughout our clients. This was fixed once DNS was set back to DHCP as it should have been. Since enabling Webroot DNS breaks broadcast queries (as it should), it also broke internal network connectivity. This has highlighted several places where devices had static DNS servers in place where they shouldn't have, and also where they were using an external DNS server instead of pointing to AD. ![]() (Opens in a new window) 49.99 for 5-Devices on 1-Year Plan. One of the main things I did which helped out Webroot DNS rollout the most, is I made a script run from our RMM that goes through and pulls the actual DNS servers for the machine and compares them to what DHCP sends out. All we need to know is the time they ran into the site which didn't work, and we can reference that in the block report. In my testing, the antivirus scanner caught 93.1 of the malware samples I hid on my device while this is a good result, competitors like Norton and Bitdefender all scored 100 malware detection rates in my testing. The DNS active hosts report and block list are a godsend on trying to figure out exactly what site was blocked. Webroot is a lightweight cloud-based antivirus program with a good malware scanner, an excellent password manager, and some other decent extra features. We do have to do some work with the client when we first turn on DNS filtering to make sure all the sites they use are properly configured and into the Brightcloud database. ![]() ![]() Many command and control servers from malware use "random" URLs for their servers, so these get blocked automatically in the cases where malware does make it onto the machine. ![]()
